Stone Bend | 2023
Private Residence | Tulsa, OK
Stone Bend is a pair of twisting and contorted ovoid forms, whose surfaces are informed by the topography of stacked stone walls. These works were commissioned by a private client to create a threshold-like entrance to their home. In a neighborhood comprising large estates, with a rolling, naturalist landscape design, there is an abundance of rustic stacked stone walls creating castle-like thresholds between public and private space. Stone Bend plays with this legacy by taking as its inspiration and relief pattern a store bought plastic fence panel which was subsequently run through a computer model, digitally twisted and then laboriously cast in bronze.
